Gastown Grand Prix

The week before last was BC Superweek, and Thursday featured the return of the Gastown Grand Prix after a four-year absence.

A bit of a change from the usual throngs of tourists in historic Gastown!

The Gastown Grand Prix is a criterium race, which features the racers completing a short loop several dozen times. They compete for “primes”, or prizes, during individual laps throughout the race, as well as the overall title for finishing the final lap first.

It’s a very exciting spectator sport, and thousands of Vancouverites took advantage of the beautiful weather and historic setting to watch these high-caliber athletes ply their trade.

Congrats to Ken Hanson and Loren Rowney for taking the overall titles!
